GATEway is the Rochester Chapter of the Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented, a statewide not-for-profit organization that advocates for educational services for gifted and talented students.
GATEway supports academic challenge, rigor, and depth in the Rochester Public Schools and offers annual programs open to the public.
Objectives
To sponsor educational events which encourage all students to express their interests and talents in the arts and sciences.To inform and educate parents and the community about the unique learning needs of gifted and talented students.To obtain funding for educational programs designed to enhance the skills of parents and teachers who work with gifted and talented students.To advocate for appropriate curriculum and stimulating programs in Rochester schools.To collaborate with I.S.D. 535 School Board, administrators and teachers on issues of concern to families of gifted and talented students.To lobby for increased State appropriations for support of gifted and talented education.
