Reports to: GATEway Science Fair Steering Committee of the Rochester Chapter of MCGT

Summary: Organizes and coordinates volunteer chairpersons for the annual GATEway Science Fair. Schedules and facilitates meetings and ensures adherence to the timeline of preparation activities. Maintains documents, procedures, and records. Oversees operations during Science Fair week, including day of event. Seasonal, part-time.

  • Coordinate volunteer chairpersons
  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings
  • Maintain, schedule, and ensure project timeliness
  • Coordinate events during fair week
  • On-site coordinating on Science Fair day
  • Documentation of process and procedures
  • Be ex-officio member of Steering Committee
  • Work with Steering Committee to set next year’s date and reserve facility
  • Miscellaneous tasks assigned by Steering Committee
Hours and wages:
  • Minimum 2-3 year commitment requested, training-in the first year
  • 300 hours per year total
  • Estimated distribution of hours: 10-15 hours per month in September, October, and November; 30 hours in December; 60 hours in January; 130 hours in February; 30 hours in March
  • Hours are flexible, with some evenings required for team meetings
  • Availability during the hours of the Science Fair mandatory
  • Hourly wage: $10 per hour for the 2011-2012 Science Fair timeframe
  • For the 2012 Science Fair, must be available the week of February 20th through February 26th, including all day February 25th and potentially February 26th.
Skills and experience desired:
  • Demonstrated project coordination abilities in employment or volunteer settings
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, preparing and emailing document attachments
  • Experience with Google Documents/Forms/Sites is a plus
  • Experience generating mailing labels helpful
  • Must use own computer
