2015 GATEway Annual Family Program and Annual ElectionFriday, May 8, 2015
Quarry Hill Nature Center
701 Silver Creek Rd NE, Rochester
Thank you for all of your interest. This program is now full.
Unplug, unwind and join other families with gifted children for a fun and free evening at the Quarry Hill Nature Center. You do not need to be a member to attend and there is no cost for the program. Activities will be geared toward elementary age students.
The evening will start at 5:30 with pizza available for $1 a slice. GATEway Board members will provide veggies, fruit, desserts, drinks and dinnerware. At 5:50, we’ll have a very brief meeting at which GATEway members will vote for officers for next year’s Board of Directors.
Educational programs will begin at 6:00 pm. The
excellent Quarry Hill staff will lead the following programs:
Session 1 (6:00 – 6:40)
• Cave Tour - You may have been to the Quarry Hill cave but have you been there at night? Enjoy a quiet stroll through the trees as we walk the 10 minute walk to the cave. When we reach our destination families will use a Quarry Hill flashlight to explore and learn more about the history of the cave.

• Animal Survival Game Board - Try your skill at staying alive! You will follow the life of a critter making decisions about what your animal should do along the way. Will you survive? (Participants choosing this for their second activity will need to use a Quarry Hill flashlight to complete the game board.) This is an outdoor activity – dress for the weather.
Session 2 (6:50 – 7:30)
• Peeps and Leaps - Frogs and toads are starting their spring songs! Come meet some of our live frogs and toads as we learn all about their spring songs and life cycle. If the weather permits, we will head to the pond in search of these peeping leapers!

• Snake Eyes & Live Snake - Meet one of Quarry Hill’s resident snakes and learn all about what makes snakes wiggle. Have you ever thought about how the world looks to a snake? We will try out an activity that will have you looking at Quarry Hill’s Exploration Hall like you’ve never looked at it before.Space is limited and naturalists must be scheduled, so reservations are essential. If you have any questions about the event or have any trouble signing up, call Diane Hanson at 281-1498 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you miss the deadline, please feel free to contact us to see if there is still space available.
