Join GATEway & MCGT
GATEway, an advocacy group for Gifted and Talented Education, invites you to join us. We are individuals committed to excellence in education and the recognition and development of potential for Rochester's highly able and talented students. We advocate for appropriate services and options for gifted students in Rochester Public Schools, we support parents by bringing in guest speakers on relevant topics and offering informal ways to connect with each other, and we provide enrichment opportunities with educational events including the annual GATEway Science Fair.
Since GATEway is a chapter of the Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT), our annual fee automatically grants membership in both organizations. MCGT is a great resource. From their website, "MCGT provides information and literature and referral services, publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, sponsors an annual state conference with special children’s programs, conducts monthly CHAT Nights and occasional topical seminars, promotes advocacy at all levels for gifted and talented children, is active in legislative efforts on behalf of kids in collaboration with the Minnesota Educators of the Gifted and Talented, and participates in a national network through its affiliation with the National Association for Gifted Children and other organizations. (The national conventions of NAGC in November 2007 and 2018 were held in Minneapolis.) "
We are a member based organization and your annual fee helps support the advocacy and outreach both here in Rochester and at the state level. Members are very welcome but not required to attend our monthly meetings and/or help plan and run events. We appreciate whatever level of involvement you are able to do.
Brochure includes a tear off and mail in form for new & renewing members.
Remember to specify GATEway as your local chapter.
